XRP futures made their debut on CME Group, attracting significant attention with $25.6 million in notional volume within the first two days. Trading began on May 19, with 120 standard contracts (50,000 XRP each) and 206 micro contracts (2,500 XRP each) executed initially. On May 20, activity continued with 59 standard and 485 micro contracts traded. At XRP’s current price of $2.39, this represents approximately 10.6 million XRP exchanged.
While the institutional launch showed strong demand, XRP’s spot price remains under pressure, currently below $2.50 with a 7% weekly decline. Notably, XRP’s futures launch outperformed Solana’s March 2025 CME debut, which recorded $12.3 million in early volume.
